The Annabessacook Lake Improvement Association (ALIA) is committed to preserving and protecting Annabessacook Lake, located in the towns of Winthrop and Monmouth, Maine.

ALIA has been in existence since 1949! We celebrated our 75th Anniversary in July of 2024.

Our current objectives are to:

• Promote public awareness of water quality-related issues

• Educate the public about strategies to protect water quality

• Enlist citizen, organization, municipal, and state involvement in the Association’s mission

• Support initiatives by organizations, state agencies, and others benefiting Annabessacook Lake and its watershed

• Conduct programs in support of the Association’s mission

• Provide a forum for discussion of issues of interest to Association members.
